The Demotivator

demotivatorsMost bosses are demotivators or people who kill creativity by staying shut, not accepting suggestions and open to new ideas. Call them stubborn but they have the right, them getting along with their employees is a totally different matter. When reprimanding people, never do it in front of everybody else for shame is a very dangerous emotion that people can nurture within them leading to no good. Do such in a controlled environment, away from the rest of the group to prevent discouraging them. Always end with encouraging words and seek solutions for the problem that may have been created by the specific individual for their sake and yours. Remember the term “Command Responsibility”, your employee’s failure is in part yours too so be easy on the poor guy. Encourage improvement and tell them to learn from their mistakes for you were in the same situation when you were making your way up the corporate ladder.
