Health Care Industry

In the US alone, there are about 580,000 establishments that make up the health care industry, varying greatly in terms of staffing patterns, size, and organizational structures. About 77 per cent of health care establishments are offices of physicians, nurses, dentists, or other health practitioners. Hospitals constitute only 1 per cent of all health care establishments but they employ 35 percent of all workers.
